Thunderstorm is a Disaster in Survive The Disasters 2.

Description

A huge thunderstorm will begin to rage across the map. Dark clouds signal that you should find sturdy shelter immediately. Deadly lightning bolts will target random players and crash down, instantly killing anyone in the resulting blast. It is heavily recommended to hide under anything that is completely solid (map platforms, etc.), as the lightning can destroy blocks which will leave you vulnerable.

For the hyper counterpart, more lightning bolts strike, which have a higher chance to target a player.

Memo Information

  • Standard:

"The skies are roaring with thunder! Seek shelter to protect yourself from this violent storm. After 2.5 seconds the first strike will hit. After the first 6 random placed strikes: there is a 66% chance a lightning will hit hit a random spot, and a 33% chance it'll hit a nearby survivor within 36 studs to reach. When lightning strikes, it will create an explosion with an explosive range of 28 studs. It takes anywhere from .5 to 2.5 seconds to have lightning strike again. Try to cover yourself entirely with a wide roof so you wont get unlucky with the blasts."

  • Hyper:

"The skies are roaring with thunder! Seek shelter to protect yourself from this violent storm. After 2 seconds the first strike will hit. After the first 6 random placed strikes: there is a 66% chance a lightning will hit hit a random spot, and a 33% chance it'll hit a nearby survivor within 18 studs to reach. When lightning strikes, it will create an explosion with an explosive range of 28 studs. It takes anywhere from .5 to 2.5 seconds to have lightning strike again. Try to cover yourself entirely with a wide roof so you wont get unlucky with the blasts."

Survival Tips

  • Hide underneath a solid map structure. All maps are provided with permanent shelter.
    • Try to hide in the center of that platform to maximize the chances of the blast missing you.
  • Note how wide the explosion is, and you may find something that can withstand it from all angles.

Trivia

  • Looking closely, Hyper Thunderstorm's clouds are a bit darker and have a purple tint comparing to it's standard version.
  • The hidden room in the now-removed Green Hill Zone was susceptible to lightning strikes.
  • When this disaster was first released, it was very deadly due to its large blast radius and lack of safe shelters on some of the maps. Because of this, Winterville and Candy Cloud were temporarily disabled in Version 1.29, while others provided shelters in three updates (from Version 1.27 to Version 1.29.)
  • Thunderstorm was nerfed three times: the first nerf was in Version 1.27, the second was in Version 1.30, and the third was in Version 1.37.
  • In Survive The Disasters 4, the disaster warning was renamed to "thudnerstrom".
  • Wacky Warehouse had no reliable safe shelter from the Hyper variant of Thunderstorm prior to May 3rd 2019.
